Every residential proxy IP belongs to a real internet connection in a real household. How that IP enters a proxy network matters -- to the person whose connection it is, to the customers who route traffic through it, and to the targets that receive the requests.
Some proxy networks source IPs through bundled software that users install without understanding they are sharing their connection. Others use malware or compromised devices. Both approaches are harmful and unsustainable. KnoxProxy takes a different path.
Every IP in the KnoxProxy residential pool comes from a user who explicitly chose to share their idle bandwidth. The consent screen explains in plain language what happens: a small amount of web traffic from KnoxProxy customers will route through their connection when the device is idle and connected to power.
No buried clauses. No pre-checked boxes. No consent hidden inside an unrelated app install. The user sees a dedicated screen, reads the explanation, and actively opts in.
Ethical IP sourcing is not a marketing claim -- it is an operational practice verified by independent audit.
IP contributors receive compensation for sharing their bandwidth. The rate is transparent and published. Contributors can monitor their earnings and bandwidth usage in a dashboard. They can pause or leave the program at any time with one click -- no lock-in periods, no penalties.
We do not use the "free VPN in exchange for bandwidth" model where the user thinks they are getting a VPN but is actually providing proxy exits. The value exchange is explicit.
Only HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5 web traffic routes through contributor connections. No email, no P2P, no torrents, no streaming. Traffic is filtered against our acceptable use policy before it reaches the contributor connection.
We do not log or inspect the content of proxied requests. The contributor connection handles the TCP handshake and data transfer but never decrypts HTTPS traffic. The contributor can see total bandwidth used in their dashboard but cannot see individual requests.
We engage an independent third party to audit our sourcing practices annually. The audit covers: consent mechanisms, compensation fairness, traffic filtering effectiveness, and contributor opt-out functionality. The summary findings are available on our trust page.
If the audit identifies issues, we publish the findings alongside our remediation plan and timeline. Transparency about problems is more valuable than pretending they do not exist.
Ethical IP sourcing is not a marketing claim -- it is an operational practice verified by independent audit. Every IP in the KnoxProxy pool entered through explicit, informed consent with fair compensation and one-click opt-out.
Start free, run a thousand requests, and log the exit IPs. The difference is measurable in the first batch.
