Session duration is the length of time a sticky proxy session keeps using the same IP address before it changes. It lets a user complete multi-step tasks without the IP switching mid-process.
When a sticky session starts, the proxy provider locks in one IP address for that connection. The system keeps routing all requests from that session through the same IP until either the set time limit expires or the user manually ends the session. Typical session durations range from a few minutes up to an hour, depending on provider settings. Once the session duration ends, the next request gets a freshly rotated IP address from the pool.
This is largely a plan and configuration choice, not a technical limitation.
USER-duration-session-task01Everything lives in the username -- add "duration" to any proxy credential to apply session duration to a single task. Swap "task01" for a new label to spin up an independent, isolated identity.
KnoxProxy sticky sessions persist up to 30 minutes on residential (60 on mobile), and the window refreshes with activity.
Each session or connection label gets its own exit, so parallel identities never collide.
This costs nothing beyond bandwidth -- successful responses are billed, not the session or connection itself.
Run as many parallel sessions or connections as the job needs -- concurrency is not capped on any plan.
A checkout flow that requires adding items to a cart and logging in uses a 10-minute session duration to keep the same IP throughout the process.
Matching session duration to the task at hand keeps multi-step processes like logins and forms working smoothly. Too short a session can break a task partway through, while too long can raise detection risk on some sites.
This varies, but many providers cap sticky sessions between 10 and 60 minutes. Some offer longer options on higher-tier plans.
Some providers support requesting a new session manually. This action forces an IP rotation before the timer runs out.
