Concurrent connections refers to the number of simultaneous active proxy connections you can have open at the same time. Proxy plans often limit concurrent connections to manage server load and bandwidth allocation.
Each time your scraper or application opens a connection through the proxy, it counts as one concurrent connection. If you run 100 threads each making proxy requests simultaneously, you have 100 concurrent connections. The proxy server tracks active connections and rejects new ones when you hit your plan limit. Connections are released when requests complete or timeout.
This is largely a plan and configuration choice, not a technical limitation.
USER-concurrent-connections-session-task01Everything lives in the username -- add "concurrent-connections" to any proxy credential to apply concurrent connections to a single task. Swap "task01" for a new label to spin up an independent, isolated identity.
KnoxProxy sticky sessions persist up to 30 minutes on residential (60 on mobile), and the window refreshes with activity.
Each session or connection label gets its own exit, so parallel identities never collide.
This costs nothing beyond bandwidth -- successful responses are billed, not the session or connection itself.
Run as many parallel sessions or connections as the job needs -- concurrency is not capped on any plan.
A web scraping pipeline runs 200 concurrent threads, each routing through residential proxies, to collect public product data from an e-commerce site within a 2-hour window.
Your concurrent connection limit directly determines how fast you can collect data. Too few connections slow down your pipeline; too many trigger rate limits or exhaust your plan quota.
It depends on your speed requirements and target site tolerance. For most web scraping projects, 50-200 concurrent connections are sufficient. For time-sensitive large-scale projects, 500-1000+ may be needed.
Some providers include unlimited concurrent connections in bandwidth-based plans. Others cap connections per plan tier. Check whether your plan limits connections, bandwidth, or both.
